Bajos del Toro Waterfall
This waterfall is located on the slopes of an active volcano and plunges directly into what is believed to have been the crater of an ancient, extinct volcano. The immense cascade, approximately 90 meters high, has carved an impressive circular canyon into the rocky riverbed.
The rocks in the area—including basalt, andesite, and pyroclastic deposits—are rich in minerals. As the waterfall’s water flows through these formations, it carries and dissolves some of these minerals.
The Bajos del Toro Waterfall is an excellent example of how the force of water and volcanic activity combine to create a unique natural landscape, with intensely colored rocks, deep canyons, and an ecosystem adapted to the region’s conditions.
During the visit, we will have the opportunity to observe different species of birds, such as hummingbirds, motmots, tanagers, guans, and toucans.
